Since losing my son Paul in 2019, two hand-drawn sunflowers have helped us keep his light in view. Sunflowers turn towards the sun and stand tall in tough conditions — a simple, hopeful metaphor for winter. They’re also a symbol of personal growth: their bright yellow petals and radiant energy are often linked with positivity and joy, reminding us to look for what’s life-giving, even on short, grey days.
The Winter Sunflower Challenge (or whenever you want) — small, research-based moves that prime attention (Reticular Activating System RAS), lower friction, and build momentum without overwhelm.
How it works
• 8 weeks
• 1 tiny move each (60–120 seconds to start)
• Research-backed
• Optional: share your micro-win with #WinterSunflowerChallenge
If you’re new to my work, my framework is Your Move / Your Game / Your Future – Leading to Your Legacy. (You can read more about the full framework under the heading My Approach )
The picture is of the hand-drawn sunflower and the same drawing painted with colour by my niece Ella.
Next week one: If your intention is vague, your brain 🧠can’t find it.
